We are going to go through this together
Losing a beloved pet is one of the hardest experiences a family can face. Our pets are family, a companion, a source of unconditional love. Below you’ll find gentle resources, tools, and support options to help you process your loss and honor your pet’s memory.

Pet loss grief support built just for you.
We’ve built a comprehensive hub of pet loss grief support resources because we know how difficult it is to navigate bereavement while also searching for help. Whether you’re facing the recent loss of your beloved companion, walking through anticipatory grief with a terminally ill pet, or struggling months or years after your pet’s passing, we’re here to connect you with the specialized support you deserve. Below, you’ll find three pathways to healing: supportive community groups, verified individual counselors who specialize in pet bereavement, and immediate crisis resources if you need urgent help right now.
Join a Pet Loss Support Group and Find Your Community
Sometimes the most healing thing is knowing you’re not alone. Through our partnership with Pet Loss Community, we’re offering bereaved pet parents two weeks of free access to intimate support groups designed specifically for the unique pain of losing an animal companion. These small groups of 8–12 people ensure everyone has space to share their story, express their emotions, or listen without pressure.
We offer three specialized groups tailored to different stages of the pet loss journey:
- Pet Loss Grief: A safe, compassionate space for anyone whose pet has recently passed. Share memories, tears, laughter, and coping strategies with others who truly understand.
- Anticipatory Grief: For pet parents caring for terminally ill pets or facing approaching euthanasia decisions. Unpack the guilt, fear, and exhaustion of the “not yet, but soon” phase with others walking the same path.
- Living Grief: For those navigating life months or years after loss. Address ongoing challenges—such as anniversaries, new routines, and honoring your pet’s memory—while rebuilding your life.
Every participant gets time to share during each session, and all groups meet virtually for accessibility, regardless of your location.

Find Verified Pet Loss Grief Counselors for One-on-One Support
When you need personalized support from someone who truly understands pet bereavement, our directory connects you with verified, specialized grief counselors. We created this comprehensive directory because finding mental health professionals who won’t minimize your grief or suggest you “just get another pet” is tough during your most vulnerable time.
Each detailed profile includes information about their specializations (acute bereavement, anticipatory grief, euthanasia guilt, traumatic loss), therapeutic approaches, session formats (in-person, telehealth, or hybrid), geographic coverage and state licensure, fee structures and accessibility options, and any specialized experience with specific pets or populations. You’ll find counselors who offer sliding scale fees, accept insurance, or provide pro bono services for those facing financial hardship.
