Obituary For Gansito
Gansito came into our lives in June 2025, as a stray cat that we took care of. We look after many stray/feral cats, but there was something different and special about him. His sweet chatty meows and baby eyes won our family's heart quickly. He was an affectionate cat and loved to place his forehead on ours and give us love. I have never felt this level of love from a small animal before. We officially made him a family member on January 17th, 2026, and he no longer had to endure the hardships of outdoor cat life.
Early June of 2026, our poor baby Gansito became very ill. He slowly lost his appetite, his playfulness, and his ability to walk properly. He even had a scary fall from his cat tower that left him unconscious for a few seconds. Initially treatment seemed to help as he made some progress, but we still did not realize how serious his illness was. We tried everything to save him, but he had developed a severe bone marrow disease that caused pancytopenia, non regenerative anemia, and he had necrosis formation on his front left leg from a wound. His body was slowly shutting down, and there was nothing else we could do for him. He always did his best to hide his pain from us, and would keep a happy and friendly act in front of us that it shocked his vet team. We also want to thank his vet team at Riverwalk, as they gave us the support we needed during this difficult time. They have been amazing, and they worked with us to do everything possible for our Gansito.
In the end, we made the extremely difficult decision to let him go. He even got too try a Gansito snack cake, which is what we named him after since he is so sweet. We haven't even known him a year, but the love we had for each other felt like it was a lifetime. My poor baby was barely two years old, and was about to be three. Losing him has been devastating and we just wish we had more time with our precious boy. His absence is felt deeply, and we know we will never have a cat like him again.
Gansito is survived by his dog siblings Bella, Luna, Canelo and cat sibling Kokomi. Gansito was preceded in death by his loving human grandma Maria, childhood dog Puchie, and loving stray cat Maomao. Goodbye for now Gansito, we will meet again one day on that beautiful rainbow bridge <3
