Obituary For Murphy Shelby
Murphy came into my life as a 6 week puppy in 2006. I was fortunate to be there during the time that he was born and when i saw him i knew that i had to have him. I went to visit him several times a week playing and holding the lil fluff ball and i knew that our bond has formed but still couldn't come up with a name for the lil boy and when i was able to bring him home he sat on the console of my car and we just drove around and i saw the Murphy gas station and that was it Murphy was his name.
Murphy came to me after a very long divorce and he was my support and companion thru it all and i called him my caregiver because every time i felt bad or just down in the dumps he was there with his head on my lap or snuggled up against me. Murphy was there watching over me during the time i was diagnosed with cancer and my surgeries. I would wake up in bed at home and he would be standing at the side of the bed with his head laying on it just watching me. Then when my late husband passed away again i relied on Murphy to help me thru the loss and pain and there he was as usual. But enough about me lets talk about Murphy or Big Boy is what i called him alot of time.
Murphy was a lover of toys and i have other animals and when i bring home toys well sadly to say Murphy just thought they were all his and boy did he keep track of them. He enjoyed playing ball and would walk around all the time with one until he got older and was not able to run hard anymore. And oh my gosh the frisbee was another favorite next to his ball and watching him jump in the air to catch it was a sight. Then there are times that Murphy and i would go up to Braums so he can get his yogurt which he so loved. All i had to do is say Murphy lets go ride and he was at the garage door waiting for me. Yes he was my side kick and where I went he was there beside me and the other dogs knew he was the one in charge for sure.
As Murphy got older i knew it was going to be hard to let him go and when he started having arthritis in his hips and it was hard for him to get up and walk anymore than it became my turn to be his caregiver. During the last 2 mths Murphy's health started declining and after many vet visits i had to start realizing that his time was coming. When he passed away Saturday night i was surprised because just a couple of hours earlier he was up walking and hitting us with that big paw of his wanting attention and yes treats and then a couple of hours later he went to the bedroom and went to sleep and found his peace.
